Residential Door Hardware

Pictured below is residential door hardware that we install.  Although not exhaustive, it should give you an idea as to some of the types of residential locks.  If you need or desire a lock not depicted here, feel free to give us a call or email us! (All hardware is available in a variety of finishes/colors)

Mortise Cylinder

Mortise Cylinder -These are found in mortise locksets (pictured on this page).  Mortise cylinders screw into the mortise lockset and are held in place by a setscrew, preventing unauthorized removal.

Rim Cylinder

Rim Cylinder - These are found in vertical deadbolts (pictured on this page) and in garage doors.  These cylinders are held in place by two mounting screws connected at the back of the cylinder

Deadbolt - When locked, the bolt is unable to be pried or pushed back (with items like a credit card or screwdriver), hence the name 'Deadbolt'.  It is one of the most common types of locks found on residential doors.  These are usually found on doors that also have a knob, lever, handleset or mortise lockset.

Entrance Knob - This is what you grab to open and close your door.  Although this requires a key to unlock, a knob alone is not sufficient security on an exterior door.  Many times, these locks can be shimmed or loided by using a piece of plastic or a credit card.  Highly recommended to have a deadbolt type lock on any exterior door that has a knob.

Vertical Deadbolt

Vertical Deadbolt ('Segal Lock') - Originally made by Segal Lock Co, this is generically referred to as a vertical deadbolt.  This type of deadbolt is most commonly found on hollow metal doors, more specifically apartment doors.  These can also be found on some wood doors (not as common) as well.

Mortise Lockset - A mortise lockset fits into a mortise cavity (pocket/hole) in the side of the door.  The mortise lockset pictured to the left is most commonly found in apartment doors.  This mortise lockset combines both a latch and deadbolt in one lockset.

Mortise Lockset (Iron / Security Door)- This particular mortise lockset is found in iron and/or security doors. This lockset is intentionally installed upside down to avoid having its knob interfere with a knobset installed on the main door (directly behind the security door).
